Christmas cards
They are turning out to be harder than I thought. In the last week I have made about 5 new cards, 3 of which are send-able. I have oodles and oodles of paper (like seriously, you could start a fire in the spare room), in different sizes and colours, including vellum!!, 8 or 9 sets of stamps, dry embossing tool, embossing powder, paper crimper, 18 different inks, watercolour pencil crayons, ribbon coming out the wazoo, raffia that has lasted me at least 6 years, scissors, tags, brads... and I still can't put a production together. Right now I am working on colouring in some stamps and then we'll see how that works. Hopefully will be able to put together a few more tomorrow... I ought to get cracking though, card list isn't getting any shorter.
Argh.

I feel like crap
It must be the weather. It has been grey and depressing all week and it's just gotten to me. I have been yawning non-stop for three days, I feel like I can't get enough sleep, I've skipped the gym twice this week and I fell off the no-fries wagon and I didn't even enjoy it. I yawned through a sales lunch, an employee appreciation dinner, a weights session at the gym... You'd think with all this extra time of not doing anything I'd be able to rest or relax... but the non-motivation makes me feel guilty and uneasy... I knew it was just a phase... I knew it!
Bleh.
In other news I've discovered that someone I've blocked from MSN whom I thought finally got the hint and removed me from his list, has added me again. I'm not sure what he's trying to accomplish by that, cuz he's still blocked. Double bleh.

Sideways Distractions
So on my way home from work today my cell phone rings... not an uncommon occurrence, but was surprising nonetheless... I ended up skipping the gym today (don't worry I'll go tomorrow) and hanging out with a friend who is visiting from out of town. Two cool things: 1. we checked out Wing Nuts Wings on Main St, and 2. watched a Fox Searchlight movie called Sideways.
Wing Nuts was great, we tried the Honey Double Dijon sauce, and the Jamaican Jerk sauce - both very tasty. I think I've fulfilled the wing quotient for the month of November and probably December as well... but if anyone is craving wings like I am wont to do, I can verily vouch for this joint. They do take out and delivery. 10 sticky fingers up.
Sideways was a very funny and intelligent movie, but not overbearingly intellectual. Comes highly recommended, and you might learn a thing or two about wine! And how middle-aged men think.
All in all, good excuse to skip the gym. Yay Tony!

Wheezy
So Luscious and I did the Seawall today. She is much more ambitious about the whole fitness thing than I am, in fact, she made me run about a third to half of it. Somewhere in there anyway, about 4 KM... Anyway I was not happy that she insisted that I run... and also unhappy with myself for not standing up for myself: "damnit I want to stop!!" BUT I am glad I did push myself even though now I'm feeling kinda wheezy. Tanya and I may do it tomorrow.
I rewarded myself this afternoon by going to Torre with Karin, Niko, and met up with a bunch of other people, supposedly of the Torre 'Crew' whom I've never met before... so that was odd. I had a shortbread cookie that was half dipped in chocolate and was kind of disappointed that my cappucino was cold... but on the bright side, my Torrefazione stamp card is now full so I'll have to go back again this week sometime for free coffee. What a way to go. Muahaha.

Where are all the Kerrisdale Mommies going to hang out now?
Torrefazione Italia in Kerrisdale is closing. Boooo.
Man, I remember going to Torre (aka Fat Tony's) in the middle of the school day, leaving the UBC campus and driving all the way out there just to hang out for half an hour. Like we couldn't find decent espresso on campus. Or cushy leather seating. Okay, so campus espresso wasn't that great, it was nice to leave campus if not for an hour, and the vinyl couches in Buchanen or the Geography lounge were never as atmospheric for us Geography/English/PoliSci/Anthro/Sociology/Religious Studies majors...
I miss being a UBC student.
The thing I will miss most about Torrefazione is the brown sugar. Yum.
PS I can't be bothered to drive to West Van for the other location. It's just not the same. Sucks to Starbucks.

Did someone ask for a new post?
This is going to be a boring post about what I've done in the past week/weekend. My life has not been particularly exciting, aside from the following: - putting out fires (re: missing luggage truck at work)
- attending soccer fundraisers in Surrey
- buying new jeans that fit (mmm.)
- boycotting Flying Wedge
- driving in the fog and midnight photo shoots of the fog
- Not seeing the Aurora Borealis from Cypress
- worrying about people who go scuba diving with pneumonia
- successfully circumventing a temptation of french fries on several occasions
- going to the gym, running outside, and 'scaling' the Seawall with Blondie, who made me do lunges, and now my bum hurts
- watching movies in Coquitlam two nights in a row (The Incredibles - good; and Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason - also good - mmm, Mark Darcy, mmm)
- buying Lululemon Athletica - running jacket, workout pants and top. Please don't judge me.
I've come up with a Christmas wish list but seeing as last year I ended up either getting what I wished for on my own, or not getting it at all, I'm not going to publish it. Ok, so I can't help that I have expensive taste but really - who wishes for bath salts?? I think my family (e.g. my brother and I) are foregoing giving gifts to everyone and buying our house a new entertainment system. Maybe I'll get new sweatpants this year. Hmm.
